Snow on the Hoback river, she is cold today!
It was short 60 mile ride today from just outside of Pinedale WY to Jackson hole. It got really cold last night, the water bottle I keep in my tank bag was frozen, the poor old bike did not want to start, but finally did! It was bright and sunny when I started, and once again I hoped the weather man was wrong. But know he was spot on with the forecast. About 30 miles outside of Jackson Hole it started to snow and has been snowing for the last few hours and is supposed to continue for today and tomorrow. Friday things are supposed to clear and I hope to spend some time in Yellowstone, I was hoping to miss the week end crowds, but mother nature has other plans.
Last night the little hotel I stayed in had Internet so I was able to search for a room, after a couple of hours I managed to find one. Due to the bad weather a lot of the campers are coming into town rather than fighting the snow. I ran into the guys from Guatemala in town and they were not having any luck finding a room. While I am a nice guy I did not want to share my room with 5 other people.
It is hard to believe that it is almost the middle of June and snow is an issue. This town of Jackson Hole is tourist Central, I little more upscale then Branson and Gatlinburg, but still just out to get the tourists buck. My hotel is rated a 1 star, yet is nearly $100.00 per night. My only real option was to head west to get on the other side of the storm, but I did not want to miss Yellowstone.
I'll spend the next couple of days messing around here in town, then head up to Yellowstone, then up through Montana and glacier national park, then I will cross into Canada.
I may post a few supplement blogs during my down time.
Tim
