There is not a person alive who has met my father that does not think he is the nicest guy in the world! He always has a nice smile and a nice thing to say. Always quick to tell a joke, or help when it is needed the most.
He has a presence about him that is hard to explain, for those of you who have met him, you know what I mean. I cannot count the number of times, even since I was a child, that people said to me, "your dad is the coolest!, he is the nicest guy!" His secret is in his sincerity.
Growing up, dad was always honest and fair, and gave me the opportunity to explore and try new things that many fathers would have thought fool hearty or stupid. When I would veer off the path, he would give me a little nudge, back to where I should be, and when I made stupid mistakes, he would pick me up and help me find the way. He still does to this day!
Many children don't really have the opportunity to know their fathers, they either are an enigma, or once they get older, just a silly old man. I have had the great fortune to have worked with my father for almost 20 years. We have had the opportunity to share the world as Men, best friends and confidants. How lucky am I?
When I am with my father I notice the smallest of things. His hands, his fingers look just like mine, his smile and tone of voice. his gestures and body language are just like mine, or should I say mine, are just like his!
We have worked together, traveled together, shared both success and failure together. In the end, the most important thing is that we have been together.
The greatest compliment I have ever been paid in my life, is when someone says, "You are just like your father!"
With out my father, what I am doing today would not be possible.
Happy fathers day, Dad, I love you!
Your son,
Tim
